VMoveCAE provides the ability to create cut-sections. This tutorial describes the procedure for creating cut-sections.
Start VMoveCAE and Load a CAE file: Start VMoveCAE and load the d3plot file provided in the Samples directory.
Click on the “Add Cut-Section” tool: Cut-section window is used to create cut-sections. To enable this window, click on the “Add Cut-Section” tool shown as in the following figure.
This brings up the cut-section window.
Add a cut-section: A cut-section can be added easily by typing its equation and clicking on the “Add” button. Presently, VMoveCAE can only calculate the cut-sections parallel to coordinate system axes. So, only equations of the form "X=<value>", "Y=<value>", "Z=<value>" are permitted. Now change the value to say “Y=250” and click on add.
A new item gets added to the Features tree under the “Features/Cut-Sections”.
Changing cut-section properties.: Let us now add a second cut-section say “X=3250” by entering it in the text area and pressing Add.
If you select the cut-section “Y=-250”, you can observe that value in the text area gets changed to “Y=-250”. Similarly, clicking on “X=3250” changes the value in the text area again. The cut-section window reflects the properties of the selected cut-section. These properties can be changed by simply changing the value in the text-area. Let us now select the cut-section “x=3250” and change the value to “Y=-310”.
Save CAx: Translate and create a CAx file. Open it in VCollab Professional or VCollab Presenter to visualizae the cut-section. If the cut-section is out of bounds and not cutting the geometry then no cut-section will be created. The next beta version will provide a slider to improve the cut-section interface and to help the user understand the valid ranges.
