VMoveCAE also provides the ability to create iso-surfaces. This tutorial describes the procedure for creating iso-surfaces.
Start VMoveCAE and Load a CAE file: Start VMoveCAE and load the new_file.rst file provided in the Samples directory.
Select any scalar result or derived type: Iso-Surfaces can be created for scalar results only. For vector, 6-DOF and tensor results, user can create iso-surfaces for their scalar derived types. Selecting on a scalar or a derived type enables the “Add Iso-Surface” tool. area
Click on the “Add Iso-Surface” tool: Iso-surfaces can be created using “Iso-Surface” window. To enable this window, click on the “Add Iso-Surface” tool. This pops up the “Iso-Surface” window. The result for which the iso-surface is created is shown as the iso-surface label and its value is displayed in a text area which can be altered as desired.
Add an iso-surface: Let us now enter an iso-surface value say “10” in the text area and click on “Add”. This will create the “Strain Energy = 10” iso-surface as shown in the following diagram.
Changing iso-surface properties.: Let us now add a second iso-surface at say “Strain Energy = 25” by entering 25 in the text area and pressing Add.
Let us now select the iso-surface “Strain Energy = 10”. We can observe that the label and values on the “Iso-Surface” window changes accordingly. This can be repeated by selecting the “Strain Energy = 25” again. Let us now change the properties of “Strain Energy = 25” iso-surface. Now expand the “Stress” tree to display the its derived types. Now select “Von Mises”. This will change the iso-surface label to “Stress - Von Mises”. Enter a value of 120 and click apply.
One can now observe that the iso-surface “Strain Energy = 25” is now changed to “Stress - Von Mises = 120”.
Save CAx: Translate and create a CAx file. Open it in Professional or Presenter to visualizae the iso-surface. If the iso-surface is out of bounds and not cutting the geometry then no iso-surface will be created. The next beta version will provide a slider to improve the iso-surface interface and to help the user understand the valid ranges.
